View Full Version : Vaccinations
This may be a really daft question, but will vaccinations for diseases etc be dairy-free? I assume they would be as they're liquid, (and generally lactose is used as a binding agent), but didn't know if anyone knew for sure....

It depends on the medium they have used to grow the virus on in the frist place. I am allergic to egg and the flu virus is grown on an egg medium, so I am told. I am not sure who would know the answer to this question - a GP - possibly. NHS direct?
Right I will investigate- I'll try NHS direct and if not I'll email someone who will know (I've got to email them about my medication anyway).
I found this on the NHS Direct website about the flu jab- this is the one I'm most interested in as I'm meant to have mine.
Cautions
If you have a serious allergy to hens’ eggs, you shouldn’t get vaccinated, and it’s not generally advised if you’re pregnant. If in doubt, ask your doctor.
