I was wondering if any of you have come across the chocolate bar (rice crispies and tangerine) on www.viva.org.uk (http://www.viva.org.uk/) (go to CONFECTION)? I have ordered some for Eden. Might be a good alternative now that TESCO can't deliver the goods...!

I can't get into the Viva site at the moment but suspect that these chocolate bars are the ones that Morrisons/Waitrose sell. I've had the rice crackle one but never found the tangerine one (we don't have Waitrose here). They are 79p in Morrisons and taste very much like the Tesco ones did.

I've had some excellent books/booklets from Viva but be aware that they are an animal protection group and you will receive information about animal cruelty/animal protection from time to time by post or by e-mail. They do sell quite a good range of sweets and chocolates though.

It's made by an Australian company and can also be bought at www.dietaryneedsdirect.co.uk (http://www.dietaryneedsdirect.co.uk).

Yes, those are the ones, 20p cheaper in Morrisons though.

Well I found quite a lot on the viva site so I placed an order - thanks Tigerlilly. I really don't want to spend a second Christmas sucking fruit jellies while the rest of the family tuck into the Quality Street so I've got some choccies and other sweets ordered that hopefully will keep me going through Christmas - plus I'll get in some Green and Black chocolate and some Tesco Jaffa Cakes. I won't lose weight but I'll be having a good time I hope (if the dates are good on what I've ordered and I can resist eating them beforehand)!

I ordered about 10 quids worth:

Chocolate Coconut Bar
Dairy-Free Fudge Bars - Coconut Ice
Dairy-Free Fudge Bars - Vanilla
Dairy-Free Fudge Bars - Chocolate
Viva! Organic Chocolate Orange Drops
Hazelnut Nougat Bar
Montezuma Speciality Bars - Gorilla
SALE - Montezuma Speciality Bars - Orangutang
Dairy-Free Soya Milk Chocolate Bar - Rice Crackle

Quite a selection box there Fozzy. Hope you enjoy it. You should treat yourself to some Booja Booja truffles, they are delicious.

I thought that being as I'd have to pay £2 P+P I may as well get a good selection. I'm not really a truffle-guy though.

Fozzybear - you may find that Booja Booja convert you to truffles.:D I have to 'remind' the rest of my family that they can eat all the othe chocs to make sure I get my fair share, they're that nice. I think the champagne ones are probably best, but the espresso ones are also good... and cognac and banana turns out to be a really good combination, too.

I think champagne are my favourites but I like the ginger wine ones too. I'm not usually into ginger, or banana flavoured things but both varieties of Booja Booja are delicious. They are quite solid truffles so it is more like eating a chunk of very nice flavoured, smooth chocolate rather than the mushy goo that you find with some truffles. The flavours are subtle enough not to take over the chocolate but yet still obvious enough to recognise.

My mouth is watering now.

I got my Viva order through yesterday, but the Gorilla bar wasn't included "we don't sell it anymore - here's a credit note for 75p". Not sure how I'm supposed to use the hand-written credit note online though.

Not a very big pile of sweets for my £10, but not really bad. I did eat one last night, the Chocolate Coconut Bar, which was very nice. Looks like some have been left out in hot conditions though as the chocolate was melted and re-set on the one I opened and one of the other bars is really deformed!

Hmm that is the problem with online ordering - you never really know what you will get. Sometimes we have no choice but to order online.

Not very good customer service. I would have expected better. Try goodness foods direct next time.

I've had similar problems with veganstore - but they do always put something else in instead. So at least I discover new things.

If you're anywhere near a Fresh and Wild, they have a really good selection of non-dairy chocs.

I had my order through from them, too, and everything was okay.

However, GOODNESS DIRECT have the best customer service...but they don't offer many choc. bars, only the big ones from Plamil or dark choc. which my daughter won't eat!

Dr Hadwen Trust have a big range of dairy free chocolates, and the prices aren't too bad. I can never get their website store to work for me, but apparently they're revamping it. You can order a catalogue from them for old fashioned ordering, and they're the only place I've seen proper normal-type selection boxes that are dairy free :)

Oh yeah, the reason I originally looked at this thread was to say I've tried the tangerine dairy free bars (I can only seem to find them in a biggish Waitrose in Berkhamsted, Herts, for some reason!), and they're yummy - a lot better than the rice crackle ones, and even better than the roast almond ones (though I do like the almond ones).

Matt, I wouldn't have thought those chocolate bars were too high in caffein as they are more milk chocolate than dark. Would one little piece really cause you too many problems?

I've only ever seen the rice one in Morrisons but I'd love to try a tangerine one.

http://www.crueltyfreeshop.com/UK/shop/system/index.html

I believe is the link you require Matt. I couldn't actually access the site itself, but this computer has weird firewalls.
The main site it is linked to is in a similar vein to VIVA I think- so may get related information sent to you.

Matt, evidently some of us do have the inclination to Google these things (well its a toss up between that and doing some work!!)

Tried the link here as well and couldn't get it to work.

It worked for me even though I have a firewall and ZoneAlarm anti virus.

try http://www.crueltyfreeshop.com/ - I managed to get it to work on my computer at work today :) I'm just running a really outdated version of Debian at home, which might be the problem for me

i don't have any other caffeine at all so the small amount in choc can be a prob. i think the fat in it doesn't agree with me much either. :(

i'll persevere. i've coop after eights in the cupboard to try at some point.:)
