Have just received the following e-mail from Allergy uk. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Allergy UK Helpline:- 01322 619898 The Leading medical Charity for people with Allergy & Chemical Sensitivity Allergy Alert From Allergy UK11th October 2005 Sainsbury have withdrawn their own Basics brand plain chocolate 100g (All dates codes) due to cross-contamination with milk. There is no advisory labelling on the product to warn consumers of this possibility. Sainsbury has also identified an error in the labelling of other products from the same manufacturer as the plain chocolate. These are NOT to be withdrawn from sale. The products have the presence of Butterfat correctly listed in the ingredients panel but do not state “Contains Milk” in the allergy advice panel. The presence of butterfat makes this item unsafe for individuals who are allergic or intolerant to milk. Point-of-sale notices are to be displayed in all stores to advise consumers who are allergic to or intolerant to milk and advise them of what actions to take if they have purchased one of the products. The products identified are:Sainsbury’s Plain Chocolate 200g and 400g Sainsbury’s Plain Chocolate – Whole Nut 200g Sainsbury’s Plain Chocolate – Fruit and Nut 200g No other Sainsbury's products are known to be affected. If you have purchased and are concerned about any of the above products, please, call Allergy UK’s Helpline on 01322 619898. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh Sainsburys again - no surprise there then. I am so pleased that I don't shop there anymore.

Hi all,

I have to say that Sainsbury's are totally useless and will not be shopping from their own brands again. It's about time I boycotted them as sick of this.

Take care all.

Lan.

P.S. Had a very stressful day in work today. :p:p:p:p

Oh it had to be Sainsburys again. Perhaps all our complaining has made them check more of their 'allergy boxes' on their products.
