so steve is that meant to be captain carrot?
i'd have had you down to be more modest and maybe go for sgt colon.
but who's going to be angua?
no one can accuse me of not being modest using nobby nobbs the only person who needs to carry a letter to prove he's a member of the human race!:lol2:

Actually that's vimes.
It's from some drawing based of the guards guards books.
Here's the pics for Vimes, Carrot, Nobby and Colon
so you aspire to be the commander of the watch and a duke of ankh-morpork? setting the sights rather high?
still prefer the basic avatar picture i have of nobby. i feature a lot in this latest book, almost finished already as have to force myself to put it down or would have read it in a day!:D
That picture of Colon is really good. The light in it makes it look like it could almost be a photo - that's a very talented artist. I haven't a clue who or what you are talking about as these aren't my type of books - I'm more into chic lit (just finished The Bad Mother's Handbook).

I quite enjoyed the bad mothers handbook. I have a feeling they must be talking about Terry Pratcher - disc world, of which I read a few, he writes good kids books too. Just read Case Histories by Kate Atkinson which was a good read, I think I liked it more because it is set in Cambridge.

The artist is called Simon Lissaman, i would be surprised if anyone has heard of him before as he mainly does artwork for computer games.
Matt, I read the new book in a couple of days myself :) Once i start reading a new book i can't stop.

Well we should have been able to work out that Carrot has red hair!

thud is now finished. so anohther long wait for the next one. i've said it before but he knows a hell of a lot about police psychology and thought processes!!! i can put names to faces and remember thinking lots of the same things!:o
the best traditions of the service being able to find somewhere dry and warm at 3am for a cigarette.:lol2:
Last night I picked up Annabelle Giles "Birthday Girls" and the first chapter starts off with a little girl being sick all over her mother. At 1 am this morning my middle child did huge puddles of stinky vomit in his bed, on the bedroom floor and in the bathroom - maybe I shouldn't read that book again. The question now is if he will be well enough to go to school or if I need the day off work. It was a very sudden onset and once empty he seems ok - we'll see what he's like when he gets up.
Re police psychology, I used to work at police headquarters with the man that the Touch of Frost series was reputedly based on. This DCI was every bit like frost and when he first came to our office he opened his filing cabinet and filed *everything* wpb (waste paper bin) talk about ruthless! He looked like David Jason and his actions and manerisms were very similar. When they filmed an episode in Wakefield the two of them actually met.
Pam, I must say you're tale of woe has made lovely breakfast reading. Hope hes ok now.
just a little too much info thanks pam, very phobic about that sort of thing an good imagination!! hope he's feeling better
He went to my mum's house for the day and was fine, I'm sure he could have gone to school.
yeah but kids like the odd day off due to that sort of thing!

Our school has a strict rule that you have to 'keep the child off for at least 24 hours after the last episode of ...' I won't put that bit in as I don't think Matt needs reminding of what we're talking about!:(
It turns out that whilst the boys were out with hubby on Thursday night he had left them with someone else who has no chidren of his own. They were allowed completely free access to the biscuits and the youngest one is said to have had 10 jaffa cakes and goodness knows what else. This is after his snack at after school club, his tea at home, a banoffee pie yoghurt, chocolate biscuit (that he sneaked) and some of his halloween sweets. I'm not surprised it happened really. I think overindulgence was to blame without a question of doubt.

Um self inflicted I think - little horror!! Hope he's back to normal now. Takes me back to Christmas when I was small - stuffing myself with chocs from the selection packs and feeling rather ill!
He was back to normal as soon as he found out he was going to Grandma's house instead of school!!!!
