Hello! I have just been diagnosed as intolerant to milk - boo;) ! Actually I'm doing OK :p but am really missing a nice cup of tea! I have tried rice milk - nice for cereal but horrid in tea!! Can anyone suggest an alternative?
Many thanks,
Tracey :catchase:

Sorry I'm not a tea drinker but I use Alpro soya milk (the one from the fridge) in coffee it's the only one I like.
and oat milk and almond milk, (holland and barrett) none taste the same im afraid, but look on them as a different tasting drink of tea!

I drink it black. Earl grey is good.
like most stuff, you aren't going to get the same taste as the ingredients are different. sorry if that sounds obvious....
either get used to it black or develope the taste for alpro etc.
I stopped drinking cups of tea when I went dairy free and only have the very occasional one now. My recommendation is to make your tea weaker than usual and only put a small amount of soya milk in (it won't colour the tea as much as normal milk does). Too much soya milk makes it taste yucky and leaves that horrible UHT coating inside your mouth.
I usually drink fruit teas and have just discovered red bush tea with vanilla which I drink black.
I bought some Alpro chocolate milk at Morrisons last week as it was on offer at 99p. It is lovely and thick and makes beautiful hot chocolate if you put a cup full in the microwave for a couple of minutes.
My tip would be cheap (own brand or economy) soya milk. That way it doesn't have apple juice or vanilla as a sweetener. I really object to my tea tasting either of apple or vanilla.;)
I also make my tea quite strong and only put a little bit of milk in.

PS After about 15 years, it tastes 'normal' and when I get a cup with cows milk in by mistake it tastes foul. I know its a long time to wait...
Both tea (decaffeinated or otherwise) and cow milk are on my list of foods that I am sensitive to. Very, very occasionally (maybe once a month) I will have a cup of English breakfast tea, and have goat milk in it. It tastes almost as good as having cow milk, but it tends to come out a more orangey colour (maybe because I use 2% goat milk, and used to use 1% cow milk). Prior to discovering that I was okay with goat milk, I tried it with rice milk, but I found it to be pretty awful. How about adding some freshly squeezed lemon instead of milk? Can you have goat milk?
Hi there,
I actually use Alpro soya milk and find it makes a half decent cup of tea. I have also tried it in coffee and is very nice. Could always try some herbal teas that are very nice. I drink nettle, camomile, peppermint, blackcurrant bracers, St Johns Wort to name but a few.

Personally I can't function without tea, so I know how important these things are! It sometimes curdles in coffee, but I find waiting for the coffee to cool slightly and not making it too strong really help avoid this.
