Since so many of you have been intrested in the article posted "Extremely interesting article on lactose intolerance" I thought you may be interested in some further news. The LI consultants who were in the article have just released a book. It is called Tony's lactose free cookbook. It not only contains lots of brilliant recipes (including chocolate ones), but it contains all the latest findings of their research into LI. It is really interesting and I found it answered alot of questions, I am sure it will help alot of people understand the real truth about LI. It is a must read. (It will comfirm your not mad after all, your just lactose intolerant). You can find it on www.welstonpress.com (http://www.welstonpress.com) This web site in the future will also contain lots of useful info on different foods. So keep looking. Any further news I will keep you posted. Also if you purchase the book let the others on this site know what you think of it. I think it is worth the investment.

Dear Jane,
thanks a lot for your suggestion. I just ordered the cookbook: this is exactly what I need, some scientific background after all the chitchat that I found on the web before coming here, where people tried on their skin what LI is about.
Sometimes informations are so confusing, really scaring with all the possibilities of various intollerances, and the misinformation (example: that LI people can eat cheese like parmesan cheese: I tried, and was sick for 2 days).

some can tolerate some cheeses. unfortunately we are all individuals and though the symptoms are similar we will each react slightly differently. only sure way is to avoid totally and eat dairy free.
what's the supply of dairy free cheeses like over there? not sure if they are shipped that far.
good luck with that book.

I never heard of a diry-free cheese supplier here, but I also have to say that up to now I wasn't really interested to discover it.
It is my feeling, though, that very little is available here; you should try the only dairy-free cookies that I found: it is like eating rubber!
Victoria:)
