Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this question but no other titles seem to fit
There are some recipes that I would like to use that can easily be made dairy free but call for creme fraiche has anyone a suggestion for a dairy free alternative

Not sure as I don't have time to go thru this, but just in case it helps:

If it is a cold recipe you could try plain Yofu instead. It isn't as sour as normal plain yoghurt. I quite often use it on top of a very sweet dessert eg. crumble. You need to be a bit cautious if putting it in a cooked recipe as it can sometimes separates and you get white lumps. What recipes do you have in mind?
As Pam says, plain soya yog can work. Also, silken tofu whizzed up with a bit of water can provide the right sort of texture. But it does depend on the recipe.
