This is probably only of interest to cat lovers! ;)
So...after passing the house-check with flying colours, Matt and I finally went to the home of some West Lothian Cats Protection volunteers last night to meet a potential new pet. I lost my lovely old cat earlier this year (before I moved to Scotland), and it's not been the same without a purry rascal around to love!
Sooo...we have a new furrything! She's a beautiful 5 year old brown tabby girl, very timid due to having had a bit of a rough time recently and in general, but incredibly affectionate. She loves to be stroked and brushed, and has a purr like a pneumatic drill when she's happy (which seems to be often). I think it'll take a while for the little mite to come out of her shell, but she's already getting more curious about her surroundings and is starting to get enough confidence to quietly explore things.
I love cats. :D
The only question now is what to call her! Her previous name was Mimi, but all concerned (including her foster carers at WLCP) agreed that she doesn't look anything like a Mimi, and the name conjures up disagreeable images of French ladies of ill repute or that annoying character from Allo Allo! So the name, I'm afraid, has to go. We're toying with a couple that might suit her, but we've yet to ask her opinion on the matter and we couldn't possibly name her something she didn't approve of. ;)
So...new cat to look after! Yay me.
