Has anyone tried these? I know that I claim not to use the free from aisles in supermarkets but I just happened to notice Tikka Masala and Korma curry sauce jars and thought I'd give them a go. They are £1.29 per jar and look lovely and creamy although they are gluten, wheat and dairy free. I've missed my creamier, milder curries as the only other curry sauces I have found have all been hotter tomato type ones. I might try one tonight and I'll let you know what I think.

Hi Pam,

Hope things are alright with the family?

Have not heard off Meridan curry sauces, but look forward to hearing of the taste.

I know Sainsbury's have created a free from curry and have tasted the Tikka Masala, which i have to admit was not too bad. However have found that I can eat normal curries as well (i.e. Balti), which I have to admit is alright.

Look forward to feedback,

Kind Regards,

Lan. :D

Well, I had chicken korma last night and it was delicious. I cooked it in a casserole dish in the oven rather than standing over the stove and found that the sauce was a bit thin but maybe it would reduce if cooked in a pan on the hob. It certainly didn't lack in flavour for want of dairy ingredients and was lovely and creamy and not too hot. The creaminess comes from coconut milk. I'll certainly buy this one again, I just hope that Morrisons continue to stock it as their free from section tends to be a bit hit and miss. At £1.29 for a 350g jar it wasn't too expensive though it is unlikely that these will ever be on BOGOF like Patak's often are.

I also bought Morrisons 'better for you' naan bread which according to the label did not contain milk, though their standard ones do. I am a bit cautious about their bread products because I have found that calcium propionate can be classed as a milk ingredient on some but not on others. Fortunately I am dairy free by choice and do not suffer too much if I eat something that I shouldn't.

The family are all fine thanks Lan, how's yours?

Tescos also stock these Meridian Curry Sauces, although I haven't tried them as I've got a cupboard full of the Sainsburys Free From jars. I'm trying the Korma tonight. I've had the Tikka Masala, Sun Dried Tomato & Basil, Carbonara and Mushroom, White Wine & Dijon Mustard. All very nice.

I know it was on another forum but I know what you mean Pam by saying its worth checking out products not in Free From ranges, I was getting hooked on Sainsburys fruity and nutty cereal bars. Browsing in Tescos last night I came away with several boxes of their own make cereal bars and Jordans bars that do not contain any dairy. Non of them cost as much as the free from ones.

I tried the tikka masaala sauce last night and give that a big thumbs up too. Lovely creamy sauce and not too hot.

I might take a trip to sainsbury's, Jill and have a look at their sauces as I find it quite difficult to make my own sauce that tastes good, the soya milk seems to spoil them. We've also got a new big Tescos opening this week so I'm looking forward to having a browse there.
