For those of you who only have dairy intolerance, I was VERY excited to find out that Sainsbury's lebkuchen (little chocolate gingerbread hearts from Germany) do not contain any dairy at all!!
Not good news for my waistline though :D

Not good news for my waistline though :DI'm SO happy to hear that! I buy lebkuchen for Matt, but I've really missed it since I've been unable to eat dairy. I know Sainsbury's are evvvvvil....but I'm afraid this once I'm just going to have to go there. :lol2:

I have just been given a bag by my mother in law - sadly I can't stand them :(

We like Lidl's gingerbread snowballs and they have been reduced for the last few weeks. No milk in the ingredients there as far as I can see.

Matt already loves Lidl's lebkuchen rounds, and we're both fond of their bratwurst...

Gill do you buy the mince pie filling from Meridian foods for your home made mince pies or do you make your fillings from scratch.

Not keen on mince pies as such but tried that jar of filling by meridian foods from the health food shop and tasted not too bad.

hmm, this isn't what Sainsbury's told me! I rang their customer line because there wasn't any useful info I could see on the leibkucken packet and they said someone had rung earlier in the week so they could tell me the answer straight away, and that was that the chocolate did have butterfat in it.

Maybe the person I spoke to was talking through their hat. Next time I ring I'm going to get them to send me an email so I have something in writing :(

I was too tired to do the whole mincemeat-from-scratch thing, I'm afraid - my energy is a somewhat precious resource these days. ;)

I have a packet of Sainsbury's chocolate lebkuchen hearts. The packet has a pink allergy box whic has the following info

Contains wheat, gluten and soya.
Not suitable for nut allergy sufferers, due to the methods used in the manufacture of this product.

There is a long list of ingredients which includes plain chocolate (20%)

As this is Sainsbury's I guess we should not trust the pink allergy box :(

I don't know - it seems weird that they wouldn't put milk in the allergy box if it contains butterfat, so either the person I spoke to was lying/misunderstood what product I was talking about, or they don't consider butterfat a milk product.

I'm confused :(

could be they meant no milk proteins as i don't think butter fat has any proteins in it.

either way it's sainsburys so enough said.

mincemeat... good method. buy shops own and add to it. far easier than from scratch and quicker too.
