Is there anybody on here whose child ALSO has a NUT ALLERGY?
Eden has recently been diagnosed with (Dairy and ) a Nut Allergy and I would like to speak to more "seasoned" parents of a child who is also allergic to NUTS.

I can't help much either. An ex lecturer at work (Sheila) has a grand daughter with a nut allergy. I know that Sheila had to learn how to use an epi pen in case something happened when her grand daughter stayed with her. The child went to a village school and somebody there had to learn how to use an epi pen too. I guess an epi pen is close to hand at all times.

Hi Ellise

My son was diagnosed as LI back last year. Also in the last couple of weeks we were out shopping and the kids wanted some hot pecan nuts in sugar coating. I checked with the stall holder if they contained any dairy products and she said no. Myself and the kids ate the nuts but my son (13) felt really unwell and came out in a really bad itchy rash. So the next time we visit the consultant or doctor I will ask for him to be tested. There is a nut allergy on my husbands side of the family so thats were he probably has got it from. He does seem ok with other types of nuts.

Happy new year to everybody, Have a happy and healthy one.

Hmmmm. Call me an old sceptic but if you didn't see a list of ingredients for the coating then it may have had lactose in. I hope so in a way because then it may not be the nuts that caused a reaction.:wine: Happy new year to everone!

i'd not be suprised as they do use lactose to bind the flavours to the surface of stuff.
hope not nuts being the problem. get it checked out though

I know it wasn't lactose he reacted to because myself and my daughter also had some. I react really badly to any small amounts of lactose and I was fine.

Eden is getting an EPIPEN tomorrow and Rob and I will be shown how to use it. Eden's childminder is also going to be shown.

Vanessa.

That will make you feel better. At least if she eats something with nuts in it by accident something can be done immediately.

That will put your mind at rest a little. Great!
