We are considering making a change to the website so it covers not just dairy allergies and intolerances, but all food related allergies and intolerances.
We would like you opinions on this idea. Do you think it is a good idea? Or would you like to keep the site way it is at the moment?
If you have any thoughts on this, then let us know.

Maybe I'm being selfish in excluding other people from the site, but I think if we widen the subjects to include all food intolerances we would lose the focus and wouldn't gain as much valuable information.
I can see that some members would benefit from additional food intolerance information but I would prefer to see a more focused site. If we start to have people who are primarily gluten intolerant for example we may end up giving out confusing information in the types of foods that each group can or can't eat.
I have no objection to people with multiple allergies coming to the site and discussing their problems as long as the primary topic is dairy allergy/intolerance.
Hi Pam,
Thanks for the comments and I agree to a point, I guess that's why I'm so unsure.
Just thought as I suffer with multiple allergies/intolerances it would be helpful. We could have sub sections where any other allergies/intolerances could be discussed, but focus mainly on dairy-free living.
Can others also let me know of their opinions on the matter.
Take care Pam and hope all is ok with the family.

I have other allergies too which don't cause as much hassle to daily living as my intolerance to dairy - which is getting worse :(
I was/am so pleased to find a dairy intolerance/allergy dedicated site. I would not want to have the vital information lost amongst other allergies. Having said that maybe we could have one small section for other problems? Could we restrict this in some way eg must have dairy intolerance/allergy plus other problems? Just a thought.
Why hasn't anyone else voted? I feel really selfish and bossy now :(
I honestly don't mind additional allergies being discussed but I think the site would lose so much if the focus shifted from milk allergy/intolerance.

I didn't vote as my comments don't appear to fit in the yes, no or don't care! :

What we will probably do is add a section to the forum where people can discuss other allergies, but keep the primary focus of the site as a Dairy free site. :D
I would prefer for the site just to concentrate on dairy as like some of the previous comments it may become too confusing. One thing I would like to see added is a section on foods which are dairy free but are not labelled as such. ie crisps, biscuits etc, ie the normal brands of foods. whch are not as expensive as the 'Free From' ranges. I suppose we could start a forum, but if it was set up properly it would be easy to search for items of interest. Something for you to think about (sorry if there is a place already for this sort of thing - I may not have found it)
Would just like to take this opportunity to thank you all for coming up with such a great site. I only happened to come by it by chance. It is such a help.

Hi Jill,
That's a good idea. You could use the general chat forum at the moment, but as you say it would be a good idea to have a seperate forum for this.
I'll set one up later :D
Hi all,
Thanks for the 2 votes. Have decided to stay dairy free but have a separate section, where smaller allergies/intolerances can be discussed.
I myself have a milk intolerance but also suffer from allergies to caffeine and citrus. I just thought it would be nice to share my experiences on this as well.
Will have a think about this smaller section later, and possibly make it a forum only topic.
We will be re-arranging the forums slightly over the next couple of days, to clear out the unused forums and add some new ones. If there are any particular subjects you would like us to cover, then please let us know. The earlier suggstions have been noted.
Thanks again,
Lan. :D
I'll go with the dairy free food recommendations, whether they are specialist foods or not. It is always useful to know that there are plenty of 'off the shelf' products which are safe to eat but maybe you should include a permanent reminder on this forum that everyone should always check the labels anyway - supermarkets and food producers are notoriously bad for changing the recipe without making it clear that they have now added the wicked ingredients!
