Hi i'm jenny mum of a 2 year old boy who has lactose intollerance or so i was told when he was 6 months old and now 18 months later i'm told it may be the milk protien as he hasn't grown out of it at the age of 2.
Eating is a major thing for him,he is a fussy eater and with respect most soya products do taste pretty rank,i don't expect him to eat anything new without trying it myself :P but i do have to say he has got a bit of a fettish for sweet & sour pot noodle & polo's.People laugh when he and his brother choose sweets and one with a mars bar and the little one with a packet of polo's.It's nice to find all the different sites regarding dairy/lactose etc and see other peoples experiences

I have a 4 year old daughter who is extremely faddy together with being milk intolerant. Because of her I went dairy free too so we tend to eat the same things - or at least she gets offered the things that I cook for myself. Amazingly, she has a love of boiled eggs - most kids won't touch them! The dietician recommended that she stays on 1 pint of Wysoy until she is 5 as well as eating the rest of her meals. (tonight she managed 1/2 a Bernard Matthew's Fishie and about a fork full of mashed potato)

As for nice dairy free products, I can recommend Provamel desserts or Yofu, and Sojasun yoghurts are lovely.

The cheese really is a bit naff though isn't it?

Allergycare chocolate beans and chocolate footballs are good too.

I'm really into the Meridian sauces at the moment having just discovered them and I'm going to do pasta in white wine and mushroom sauce tonight. My faddy daughter won't touch them though. You can find them in the free from section in Morrisons, Tesco and (so I'm told) Sainsburys.
