Wotcha.

I'm sure i've been here before, but for some reason I cannot find my original username (Jules E34).

Oh well, nevermind. :D

Hello all, I'm Jules, diagnosed 2 years ago. Pretty much over the initial shock and finding that it's not as bad as I thought it would be.

I have a 3 year old daughter, and she is dairy intolerant as well. We have great fun cooking and substituting dairy with soya or rice products.

Only thing I miss really is cheese:(

Yes a cheese substitute is difficult. I like the Scheese.

Hi Jules,

Not a problem now you have a new account but i couldnt find any username for Jules E34 on here.

There are plenty of alternative cheses out there, give some of a try and you may find one to your liking.

I am completely intolerant to Cow's, Goats and Sheeps Dairy products, so cannot have cheese from any 'usual' source.

What else is there?

Go to your local health food shop- look in the fridge there, and there should be various types of vegan cheeses, such as scheeze, tofutti and cheesly. Various people like different ones, so its a matter of trial and error. They won't taste like normal cheese, but they taste ok, and it fufils a cheese craving (I personally wouldn't eat any of them on their own, as I used to with traditional cheese).
Hope this helps a bit.

I'm not keen on any of the ready-made fake cheeses, but I find some of the recipes for fake cheese form the Uncheese Cookbook (available from Amazon) are quite good. But they do require a magimix (a blender isn't OK as you have to grind nuts) and a bit of ingredient hunting (umeboshi has proved impossible, even in London).

Hi all,

I absolutely love Cheezley and they also have different flavours and a melting variety. Not everyones cup of tea but I love it. Have seen it for sale in Tescos, but generally get mine from Holland and Barrett. :p:p:p
