Hi I've just joined this site and I'm once again on the hunt for a easter egg which is not plain/dark choclate or made from carab. My 3 year old daughter has definate views on how disgusting these taste. We have just discovered a lovely chocolate bar made by an Austrailian company called Sweet William this is made using soya and tastes just like milk chocolate. Unfortunately in this country only bars are available at the moment. If anyone can help please let me know.
Thanks Sarah

MMMM the chocolate bar sounds nice, do you mind me asking where you found them, Lou xx
Lou - Sainsburys (big ones at least) sell the Sweet William rice crackle bars, and also the almond ones (though these are branded as own-brand Free From).
Sorry, can't help on Easter eggs, but I'm sure someone else can.

Hi Nic, I think I might have bought one today but from Tesco, do they have little diamond shapes embossed on the top of the pieces?
Lou - I *think* they have diamonds on top (they certainly have some sort of pattern, and are in about five rows of two pieces), but don't have one in stock so can't check. When I next go to Sainsburys I'll check, but that won't be for a couple of weeks.
Sorry not to be more helpful.
Nic
Hi Sarah, the link below is for the Christmas chocolates. I had a quick check on a couple of the sites and they are selling Easter gifts, don't know if any of them are any use to you.

Alternatively Kinnertons easter egg- if anything like their dairy free chocolate should be delicious.
Hope this is of some help

I like the Kinnertons Easter eggs best, I've only seen them in Waitrose so far this year, there's a 'Simpsons' one and a 'Groovy Chick, Bang on the Door' one.
I've also had that Australian chocolate. The tangerine flavour one is lovely, I'm afraid that was in Waitrose as well.

Hi Thanks everyone for your help. Have just heard back from Sweet William & goods can be ordered directly from them & shipped over so I might just buy a job lot, I have a couple of friends who have kids with dairy allergys as well. Also Lakeland plastic do an easter egg mould so I might have a go at making my own! Wish me luck
I'm not aware of any non-dark chocolate easter eggs. The Kinnerton ones are 60% cocoa solids and Green and Black are 70%.
Sweet William chocolate melts ok but looks a bit odd when it goes solid again and doesn't go quite as smooth as it started (a bit aero like in its texture).
The Peter Rabbit bars might come into larger Tesco stores soon hopefully, they might be a viable option.

I have come across five different kind of Lindt easter eggs in the supermarkets, but some do contain milk, does anyone know any pacific one that is ok
Hi
I too have contacted them but have had no reply. I also put a wanted ad on ebay australia and someone has contacted me and offered to buy some and send it!!!
I also have a friend whos mum lives there so she is going to look too. The bunny chocolate looks nice!
Ill email them again coz I really want to get them if I can.
The 70% cocoa one from Lindt should be dairy free but if it comes with truffles or anything extra they might be a bit dodgy.

feel free to spot the obvious errors with my grammer and spelling.:lol2: :lol2:
You've asked for it now Matt - just you wait!
I had noticed, but I held back - I didn't want to offend. Just wait until we start on you. By the way, doesn't your keyboard have a shift key? There seems to be an absence of capital letters.:p

Thankyou Pam, you tell him.... mind you it's good to see him back to form again and giving us greif.:p
Matt- last time I complained about your typing (the number of l's in satellites, as far as I remember!), I got shouted at!!
Next time I shall correct away!! :D

Grammar - Matt.
Why not use the spell checker? You can't use it for quick reply though.

I want Easter Eggs :( I've just realised that it must be now a year since I gave up dairy properly, as I got given an Easter egg last year, and my brother had eaten it for me and I was left with a plastic egg cup!!

Well Matt, with all these accusations flying round about me I thought I'd better start behaving myself, and besides when its to do with chocolate, a girls best friend, you really can't get distracted by anything else!!
Oh I discovered that Thorntons are doing a dark egg this year. £2.99, of 4 for £10. I don't know if the icing is dairy free, as I couldn't be bothered investigating (but I might be paying a visit to Thorntons after Easter!!)

I shall investigate!!!!!
Well if you decide to buy the four and have a spare one, I know a very good cause that would quite happily remove the problem!!
or post them to me as i can't get to the shops to look!!!:(

Here look for yourself!!
Hi
re the dairy free bunnies in australia, they emailed me this link. www.crueltyfreeshop.com.au (http://www.crueltyfreeshop.com.au).
apparently sweet william will ship to uk but only in bulk, but I have emailed the cruelty free shop in australia to see if they will ship smaller amounts
This might be a stupid question, but what quantity do they define as bulk??
Hope you manage to get some sent :)

Hi,
I emailed Thorntons today asking if they had any products which don't contain dairy, and here is their reply:
We produce a 100g & 45g Dark Chocolate bars and a 150g Dark Chocolate Easter Egg which doesn't contain any added milk. However, due to our current manufacturing processes we cannot guarantee that it is totally free from milk traces. We produce milk and white chocolate products down the same production lines as dark chocolate and although we do thoroughly clean down our machinery there could be a slight chance of a cross contamination.
That's a fairly standard response really. At least they were prompt with their response!!

Interestingly enough, we were in Thorntons yesterday as I wanted to buy some Praline Easter Eggs for myself. I ask the sales girl what products in the shop were dairy-free as I noticed that there are NOT any dairy-free Easter Eggs...and she confirmed that there are no 100% confirmed dairy-free Easter Eggs, only a Diabetic and Ginger Bar -in the whole shop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I said that it's a shame and that my daughter will never be able to shop in Thorntons. (Besides, all their chocolates contain nuts -so it's a definite NO-No anyway!).
The Kinnerton Easter Eggs are availalbe in TESCO and Woolworths, THE SIMPSONS or BANG ON THE DOOR. They are quite nice.
SWEET WILLIAMS bars taste nice (also available in TESCO) but contain traces of nuts.
Vanessa.
As I said, it's not an uncommon response. Green & Blacks, Lindt etc all say the same. It's only kinnertons that guarantee it (and it will only take one accident for them to stop it as well). In general most places only say it to cover themselves- It's cheaper for them (as it becomes the consumers problem), if they don't make promises that its free from x. Personally as I don't react to Green & Blacks chocolate, will be seeing if I can persuade someone to get me one of those :)

Despite being very lactose intolerant I have been ok with Green and Blacks chocolate bars and Tesco organic plain chocolate.
Hi all
Re the chocolate bunnies from australia called sweet william. I have ordered a few from the cruelty free shop in australia at a cost of $14 extra for shipping just to see if Haylie likes them.
This is what Sweet William said re bulk buying.................
'Order direct from us in Australia - the 100g bunny comes in box
of 15 and the Bunny faces, boxes of 24. They have 18 mth shelf
life, so should still be ok for next Easter also'
Im sure they will give a shipping cost for a box when asked. Im going to wait for this one to come, see if Haylie likes them, then maybe order a box of each from Sweet William direct.

Boots in Poole has gone downhill :( I can't even find the E45 stuff anymore. Shopping is stressful these days.
castlepoint is your best bet copper! assuming that it hasn't fallen down again!! then you hav the excuse of a wander round the lakeland shops as well.....:)

I am tempted to go to Castlepoint - before we get a new car would be a good idea. The local paper says it will take 3 years to sort out the car parks there. The car parks are propped up for now!
just park on the upper deck!!
for all those not from down here it's a shopping centre with carparking under the shops....and the concrete roof/floor keeps crumbling away so you could end up with sainsburys on top of your car when you get back!!!:o
and they still let people park in it?
One of our local multi storeys was closed for months due to a similar problem.
suddenly closed it in november for a couple of months but open again now!!!
I think this topic needs returning to the important point!! Easter eggs :) Not too long till Easter now, hope I get some eggs :D (I want chocolate at the moment, but I'm too lazy to move)
happily post my address for the care packages..... i'll settle for a pack of free from pancakes and a bottle of maple syrup. though if you insist i'll have an easter egg....
I've not come across anything other than Bendicks £10 eggs or Lindt £5 eggs at the moment, will have to look more seriously.

I've been eyeing up a few easter egg i fancy trying this year, in fact i'll be writing a wee list to my better half as a little hint.
I think I shall have to buy my own easter egg (although I might manage to get mum to buy me some as well, she takes pity on my chocolate habit occassionally!!)
Yeahy, I managed to get an Easter Egg today :)
Got a Kinnertons adult one, so that's an egg and a bar of their chocolate as well.
(Mum took pity on me, but my brother gained an Easter egg as well, so he should be grateful too!!)
The Divine dark chocolate one with dark chocolate covered brazil nuts (my favourite!) looks fantastic. Unfortunately I'll feel all guilty if I buy it for myself, and I doubt anyone else will even know it exists. Oh well, probably better not.
Nic
bugger guilt go ahead!!!!!:lol2:
