Phoebe has been MUCH better this week she has been dairy free for over a week and her nose, cough and eyes are much better, her skin is 100% better and she hasn't been sick all week - fab. I guess dairy was the problem after all. I'm glad I listened to my own instincts, afterall there are only so many 'viruses' that 1 child can get in a month or two!, they even gave her a nebuliser, to help her breathing!!
The only thing I an finding a bit diffucult is when we go out to playgroups etc, she keeps trying to hoover up other kids crumbs etc! Expect will just have to follow the poor girl around!!?
Anyway many thanks to all for replies and help. Last question, please can anyone advise where to buy d-free Easter eggs?
Look in Woolworths, Asda, Tesco, Sainsburys for Green and Black plain dark chocolate or Maya Gold (not the praline ones as they have milk in), also Kinnerton do Groovy Chic/Bart Simpson ones but make sure you get the milk free ones, they are in very similar packaging to the milk chocolate ones. Kinnerton also do "Careful Chocolate Company" eggs in black boxes with coloured spots on - these have been spotted in Asda.
You can get dairy free easter eggs from D&D chocolates over the internet too.
I also spotted a Lindt dark chocolate egg in Morrisons which I assume (but didn't check) will be dairy free and there was a huge Bendicks mints one which appeared to be milk free too.
Unfortunately I haven't found any dairy free chocolate eggs made from the more milky type of dairy free chocolate. You could try making your own with egg moulds from a cake decorating shop or lakeland plastics but the free from chocolate seems to take on an odd texture when reset.
Hi there
I made Haylies eggs last year when Tesco did a lovely dairy free chocolate made with rice milk, but havent tried the sainsburys one yet. However Ive just received a bar of organica premium swiss chocolate, made with rice milk and hazelnut and its GORGEOUS so I will try to melt a bit and see what happens. I got that from veganstore online and also some raspberry creme eggs which Haylie doesnt like as they are too dark, but I think they are very tasty. The raspberry creme in the middle is VERY raspberry mmmmm
I bought her a mug, lined it with pretty paper, and filled the eggs with various sweeties and covered it with cellophane and even if I say so myself it looked very professional! lol
Oh and Ive just had a dairy free list from haribo and cadburys and there are loads of on the shelf sweeties that are milk free, including butterkist sweet and salt popcorn but NOT the toffee one. Hayle even had sweet popcorn at the cinema a couple of weeks ago as it was made by butterkist, but during the film (zathura) something made her jump and the whole lot flew across the floor hehehehe
