Hi all,
I have been following dairy free diet for two months now but still have some of my old symptoms, so i am trying to see if I am missing a dairy product in my diet.
I bought some biscuits from Sainsburys which they say are milk free, containing soya lecithin: does this mean that non soya lecithin(which is in my oil spray i use every day) is from an animal? If so which one?
By the way biscuits are lebkuchen assortment- yum yum!!!

Hi April
Not to sure about the Lechithin issue, milk can be hidden in so many things. What are your symptoms? I've been trying to stick to a dairy free diet whilst taking some antihistamines to control my exzema...but I've just found out that there is Lactose in them. So needless to say I'm not taking them at the mo. I'm sure that someone on here will know anout the Lecithin, you might not get a reply straight away but I'm sure that someone will.
Goos luck
Debbie
p.s
Will try the biscuits!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As far as i know lecithin is not milk related. It's not something i've seen as a milk by product before. I'll try to find out and post a definate answer on here soon.

You asked but you might not want to hear the answer (from 'Vegan Shopper')
Lecithin (E322)- fatty substance found in nerve tissues, egg yolk, blood and other tissues. Mostly obtained commercially from soya bean, peanut and corn. Uses: emulsifier in baked goods and confectionery.
----------------------
So this would indicate that it is not milk based in any form but people with egg, soya or peanut allergies should be very careful.

Hi Aprilgrace,
You really should try COLPERMIN. (I mentioned this on another question the other day.)
It is peppermint oil, but in a capsule that doesn't disolve until it reaches the large bowel, therefore oil is delivered to the problem area where it is neaded ! I don't know what I would have done without it at times, and I always keep some around just in case. It is very easy to get hold of, I buy it in Tesco but you can get it in pharmacies too. :D
I might look out for that and give it a try, I seem to be having more trouble with bloating these days. One thing to be wary of with capsules is that they are often made using milk products for the outer skin (I can't remember if it is lactose or casein) so although the main ingredient can help, the outer can cause its own problems.
