I have Annabel Karmens (think thats her, lol) book but most recipes are full of dairy or gluten.

Are there any books for babies/toddlers full of alternatives?

Thanks

Hi Jules, I just had a look on Amazon and found one, I think I may send for it myself!!
I don't know if I'm allowed to say this but if you do decide to order it, or anything else from Amazon, the support group which I help to run can get a percentage from Amazon if people follow the link from our website www.ldmeg.org.uk (http://www.ldmeg.org.uk/) It doesn't cost you anything and we get between 5 and 15% for our funds....Thanks

I wouldn't worry too much about dairy free recipes. You can use most normal recipes but substitute a dairy free milk and use dairy free margarine instead of butter (Pure, Vitalite, Stork blocks). It is only really cheese recipes that start getting a bit difficult.

If you are catering for wheat or egg allergies a special recipe book might be more useful.

As I've said before (so sorry if I bore people!) I find getting vegan recipe books and adding the meat back in easier than taking the dairy out. Having said that, now I've found a non-dairy substitute for whipping cream it might be easier...

I panicked a bit when we had Matthew diagnosed last month and went straight on the internet for cookery books! But I was a little dismayed by how much was either American or involved substituting everything.

I don't want to simply replace everything dairy for everything soya - I have for example been rotating soya, rice and oat milk for drinking and cereals (all of which he drinks no problem:) and all of which we find very yukky indeed:thumbsdow

So we have decided to try our hand at becoming carnivorous vegans:confused:
and I am trying my best to avoid dairy altogether. Matthew is in an elimination phase before retesting to confirm allergy vs intolerance but we don't want to take any chances just yet

On the book front, I have found Antoinette Savill's books quite good, though as I say I am now trying the vegan selection - knocks out eggs too for those who need that.
